The saying “Bloom where you’re planted” is more philosophy than a reality, especially for trees impacted by climate change. So Erin Bergen, who’s pursuing her master’s degree in UMD’s integrated biosciences program, is researching trees and their watersheds.
Bridging gaps between sciences is exactly what drew Erin, who can quote The Lorax by heart, to UMD. “I love to think of how ideas are connected, and to leave things better than I found them.”
