Save in the File Format of Your Graphic Image Editing Software

Now that the image has been acquired, the image should be saved in the file format native to the program you are using. For example, Adobe Photoshop's native file format is "psd". This step is important because it makes a version of the image that will take full advantage of the editing software you are using. This image becomes your master image - one you should not overwrite.
