  Manual Healing Methods

Reiki (ray-key) is a Japanese word for "universal energy." It is an ancient healing art rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Christian Monk, in the 1800s. The Usui System of Reiki involves channeling healing energy through the body and into the client by "laying on of hands." Reiki is a technique for stress reduction and relaxation that allows everyone to tap into an unlimited supply of "life force energy" to improve health and enhance the quality of life. It is one of many forms of healing which use of the natural forces called Chi by ancient Chinese mystics. Some forms of healing using Chi energy forces are Chi Gong, Pranic Healing, Chelation and Polarity Balancing. In its simplest form the practitioner places their hands on the recipient with the intent of bringing healing, and willing Reiki energy to flow.

An amazingly simple technique to learn, the ability to use Reiki is not taught in the usual sense, but is transferred to the student by the Reiki Master. It has been successfully taught to thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds. There is a set of hand positions traditionally taught. It is not necessary to follow those positions, they are merely taught as a starting position from which the practitioner can learn. If there is a specific area of concern the practitioner can keep his/her hands right there for as long as necessary.
