Three Juveniles Apprehended
in UMD Swenson Science Building Vandalism


Lieutenant Anne Peterson, Director of the UMD Campus Police announced today that three persons have been apprehended regarding the vandalism which occurred at the UMD Swenson Science Building on the week-end of November 13.

At approximately 6 p.m. last evening, three white male juveniles were identified and have confessed to the vandalism. The three have been released to the custody of their parents. The matter is being turned over to the St. Louis County Attorney's Office.

The identifications were made based on information and evidence collected at the crime scene.

On behalf of UMD, Chancellor Kathryn A. Martin sincerely thanks the UMD Campus Police, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Department, the Duluth Police Department and the FBI for their excellent work and cooperative effort in solving this crime. She also thanks members of the media and the community for their assistance and expressions of concern and support.
