Celebrating Scholarly Works

February 19, 2019

The Kathryn A. Martin Library will hold a UMD Authors' Celebration on Tues., Mar. 5 at 3 pm.

Join the Library on March 5, 2019, beginning at 3 pm in the Library's 4th Floor Rotunda, as they celebrate the achievements of campus colleagues from all disciplines. This event is free and open to the public.

UMD's campus community is rich with scholarly work, and the Library will showcase the breadth and depth of scholarly and other creative works published by UMD colleagues. Authors of works published in 2018 will speak on the topic of their work for 5-7 minutes and have additional time for questions.

A social hour will follow the presentations and provide a chance to talk with the authors/creators and connect with colleagues from across campus.

Authors who will present are:

  • Annie Bracey, avian ecologist, Natural Resources Research Institute
  • Kate Conerton, research librarian, Kathryn A. Martin Library
  • Devaleena Das, assistant professor in Anthropology, Sociology and Criminology, College of Liberal Arts
  • Alexis Elder, assistant professor in philosophy, College of Liberal Arts
  • Nathan Johnson, associate professor in civil engineering, Swenson College of Science and Engineering
  • John Pastor, professor of biology, Swenson College of Science and Engineering

This event is co-sponsored by UMD's Faculty Senate and Research, Scholarship and Creative Activities Subcommittee (RSCA).
