Status of upcoming programs and details about future opportunities. UPDATE: 4/8 - All summer study abroad programs are canceled.

Study Abroad Program updates:

Unfortunately, all summer 2020 study abroad programs have been canceled due to the pandemic.

However, at this moment in time, we are hopeful to run our 2020–21 Fall and Academic Year programs. A few programs have even extended their application deadlines, so please contact us as soon as possible if you’re interested in pursuing an option for fall. There is increased UMD study abroad scholarship funding for these programs and that scholarship deadline has been extended to May 17. Additionally, we’ve made exceptions and are being more flexible with the cancellation policy. However, we also want to be transparent in mentioning that the situation and program options may change at any point while the University continues to monitor the pandemic. We will be sure to provide updates if programs cancel.

Nonetheless, despite all of this uncertainty—we do know that there will continue to be opportunities to study abroad in the future. So if going abroad is something you know you want to do someday, please don’t give up on planning! You can certainly continue to search for options and make plans as we navigate this global situation. We encourage you to consider program options further out, such as our 2021 Faculty-led Winter BreakSpring Semester, or May and Summer options next year. You are welcome to view our full list of UMD and Cosponsor programs or search any of our Affiliate study abroad options as well. This constantly evolving situation is requiring us to live in the moment and work day by day. We will monitor the status of programs as time goes on and will keep you updated.

Please get in touch with us if you have questions or are interested. We are here to support you in your journey forward.

Notice: Individual program status updates for Fall Semester & Academic Year programs will be posted on their individual webpages as we receive them.
