Committed to sustainable design, construction, and renovation

UMD construction and renovation projects aim to be environmentally-friendly, see a list on the Green Buildings page. Although several buildings are LEED certified, all campus buildings that begin design phase after January 1st, 2015 now comply with Minnesota's B3 Sustainable Building Energy Standard requirements.

Nearly 90% of UMD’s carbon emissions come from heating and powering the campus, so Building Systems Automation & Controls staff monitor and regulate energy use on campus. To learn more about energy conservation, visit Building Systems and Controls.

We maintain our buildings sustainably, encouraging Waste Reduction initiatives and through utilizing a Green Cleaning program.
