Visiting Day Workshop

Between the project deadline and the first day of workshop, do the following:

1. Look in the lists below to determine if you're on the a-Go Team or the Gr-Z Team (based on the first letter of your last name.

A-Go Team

Anderson, Amelia
Anderson, Nicole
Axdahl, Roanne
Bode, Elizabeth
Braam, Kristin
Davis, Kyle
Fasteland, Maggie
Frokjer, Sharon
Giblin, Diane
Goebel, Kathleen

Gr-Z Team

Green, Joanna
Grenke, Seth
Hengel, Katherine
Johnson, Mandy
Lannon, Jennifer
Lehane, Kyle
Loff-Dircks, Judy
Mirra, Joshua
Schauer, Brent
Scherf, Tessa

2. Pick up a copy of each paper-based Client Project created by the other team from the bins on/near my door: the bin on my door will be for projects from the A-Go Team. The bin next to my door will be for projects from the Gr-Z Team. All copies should have the designer/writer's name on them.

2. Go to the Webx discussion "Client Projects" for the other team—that is, the one you're not on:

3. For the first day of workshop, look at the first five (in order of posting) for the other team's projects.

Read the self analysis in the Webx post for each project to get a sense of context and background.

Then read the projects themsevles making notes on your responses: for the online projects, you'll just visit the URLs. For paper-based projects, you'll need to find that project from the ones you picked up from my door (step 2 above). See the page "Workshopping" for the form and content of these responses.

4. In Class: Team A-Go Visits first. For 30 minutes of the first day's workshop, members of Team A-Go will move around and visit three members of Team Gr-Z, who will sit at their computers with their projects up on their screens playing host. The visitors will spend 10 minutes with each host. It’s okay if a host has more than one visitor, but try to make sure that no one is being left out! Every ten minutes, I will announce the time to change and the visitors will move along to conference with another host.

Visitors will leave their written comments with each host they talk to.

5. Then, we'll switch roles. Members of Team Gr-Z will visit three members of Team A-Go, who will sit at their computers with their projects up playing host. Again, the visitors will spend 10 minutes with each host.

Before the second day's workshop:

1. Visit the remaining projects by the other team's members. Make written responses to them on separate sheets.

2. We'll follow the same routine for the second visiting day workshop.

3. At the end of the workshop, I'll collect written responses for those folks you didn't wind up visiting on either day.
