Making a Session Record

A Mars session record is useful for two purposes:

• submitting assignments
• getting assistance

You can make a session record with 5 simple steps.

Open the Code File

If the code file is not yet open click on the "Open File" button. Use the "Open" dialog to navigate to and open the code file.

If the program uses multiple files you only need to open one of them so that Mars knows what folder it is working in. This assumes that you have checked the "Assemble all files in directory" check box in the Mars "Settings" menu.

Clear the Session Information

• Click on the "Mars Information" tab and click on the "Clear" button.
• Click on the "Run I/O" tab and click on the "Clear" button.

Assemble and Run the Program

• Click on the "Assemble" button.
• Click on the "Go" button. Enter any information required by the program.

Copy Session Information

• Click on the "New File" button. This opens a new file in the editor pane. This file will be the destination for information that you copy
• Select all of the text in the "Mars Information" pane. Type control-C to copy the selected information.
• Click in the editor pane and type control-V to paste the selected information.
• Select all of the text in the "Run I/O" pane. Type control-C to copy the selected information.
• Click at the bottom of the text in the editor pane and type control-V to paste the selected information.

Save Session Record

Click on the "Save As" button. Save the file with a name such as "session.txt".
