Prerequisites: Calculus I and II


Objectives: Topics to be covered will include: Matrices and matrix algebra, solution of linear algebraic equations, determinants, matrix inversion. First, second and higher order differential equations, Laplace transforms, systems of differential equations, and applications. The use of the Mathematica and other computational software.


Grading: There will be homework/computational assignments (assigned during each lecture and collected once a week), three in-class exams, and a final exam. The final grade will be based on:


50% from the HIGHER of the exam average and final exam grade

35% from the LOWER of the exam average and final exam grade

15% from the homework/computational assignments.


All exams will be graded according to a scale no higher than


A = 90 % or above

B = 80 - 90 %

C = 70 - 80 %

D = 60 - 70 %

F = below 60 %


FINAL EXAMINATION: Tuesday, December 18, 2007, 12:00 - 1:55 PM

No make - up exams will be given unless arrangements are made in advance of the day of the exam. University policy will prevail in the rescheduling of the final exam. Points may be deducted for late homework/computational assignments.
