Angiogenesis Inhibitors / Interleukin 12
DRUGS THAT INTEREFERE WITH ANGIOGENESIS
INTERLEUKIN 12
-
works through a number of other processes separate from its role in driving Th cell differentiation and influencing adaptave immunity
-
induces interferon γ, resulting in the production of inducible protein 10 (IP-10 or CXCL10), which actually mediates the anti-angiogenic response
-
common side effects include: fever/chills, nausea/vomiting, headache
- more severe toxicities include:
fever, anemia, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, leukopenia - limiting toxities are stomatitis and abnormal liver function tests
- pre-dosing (giving a single dose, followed by several weeks of rest before continuing with more intensive treatment) may decrease these toxicities
