WHAT IS MEANT BY "SURVIVAL RATE"?
- survival rates vary dramatically depending upon cancer types and stage at diagnosis
- some cancer treatments have shown significant increases in effectiveness, leading to decreases in death rates
- e.g., breast, prostate, stomach, lung (in men)
