2015 Folate, Vitamin B12 and Inhibitors

TRIMETHOPRIM (a folic acid inhibitor) is typically combined with SULFAMETHOXAZOLE (which blocks dihydropteroate synthetase).  These drugs act synergistically, blocking successive steps in the folate synthesis pathway in bacteria.
