Therapeutic uses for lower GI drugs

  1. PROKINETIC AGENTS: powerful stimulators of motility (act throughout the entire GI tract)

  2. ANTIDIARRHEAL AGENTS: some have very specific uses

  3. LAXATIVES and CATHARTICS: affect the lower GI tract only

  4. IBS TREATMENTS: can include agents from the other 3 classes
