Eye structure
the structures of the eye adapt light stimuli to ensure that they can be transduced by the photoreceptors found in the retina
there are 2 primary physiological functions of the accessory structures of the eye:
the
iris
regulates the amount of light that enters the
pupil
, ensuring that adequate light is present to stimulate, but not saturate, photoreceptors
pupil diameter is under the reflex control of the CNS
the
cornea
and
lens
focus
the light onto the retina
