Find Information in Periodical Articles

Business Periodical Databases

Use these databases to find articles in newsletters, newspapers, trade publications, law reviews, and scholarly journals. Some of these databases will also provide specialized company reports, industry overviews, marketing reports and consumer analysis reports as well.

Business and Company Resource Center

Business Insights: Essentials
Company & industry news linked to electronic reference books. Contains histories, market shares, rankings, industry surveys, and investment reports.


Business Source Premier
Business Source Premier

Full text of over 3,400 business periodicals. This is our largest business database. It provides our best access to scholarly journals. It also has special reports, including "SWOT" analysis. Note the green "company profiles" tab, which will allow you to access over 5,000 Datamonitor Company Profiles. 


Google Scholar

Google Scholar
indexes scholarly literature. It is strong in the areas of medicine, engineering, the sciences, and business. Provides relevancy rankings based on the citation patterns of the articles. Look for the "Find in a library" link on the left to see if we have the title.

WestLaw News
WestLaw News
WestLaw News is a massive database of full text articles. It is strong in news, law, and business as well as trade publications. 

NewsStand
ProQuest News
Contains the full text of newspaper articles from over 350 titles. Provides our only source of electronic access to the Wall Street Journal.


Periodical Articles not held by UMD can be acquired via our interlibrary loan service.
Our Kathryn A. Martin Library can access almost any article for you, for free. After requesting, please allow about 10 working days for your article to arrive as an attachment in your email.
