Description:

Grunge music, also called the Seattle Sound, is a genre of alternative rock. It is closely tied to Seattle, where grunge started and most of the grunge bands we know today came from. Grunge has also come to define Generation X. Grunge music is characterized by “dirty” music or songs with strong guitar riffs, distortion, and feedback.

Roots:

The roots of grunge derive from hardcore punk, heavy metal, indie rock, and alternative rock.
