Production Research - Information from previous productions, including director's notes, script analysis, and literary commentary about the play. Summarize each source. Include bibliography. 10 sources, minimum. Do not include sites that simply provide the script of the play.

• Written Analysis - After reading She Kills Monsters write a one page analysis indicating what you feel the play is about. Include in your paper:

• One page, type written, double spaced
• The intent of the playwright - one paragraph
• The intent of the director - one paragraph (Mark will be playing this role.)
• Stylistic approach to lighting the production:
Realistic - Scenes requiring realistic lighting, if any. Describe lighting sources.
Aesthetic - Scenes that lend themselves to visual compositions.
Symbolistic - Scenes using visual symbols or motifs.
Psychological - Scenes meant to have emotional appeal.

When your analysis is completed, class time will be devoted to developing imagery for lighting specific scenes within the play. Eventually, these will also be included in the Research Notebook.

Production imagery - graphics - Visual images you have found that have relevance to the play as a whole, or to specific scenes. Label each image with source information. Five 4 "x 6 " images, minimum.

Color key - Draft a typical lighting area with arrows showing angles of all lighting functions you wish to use in your light plot. Indicate gel colors of each lighting function.
