I agree with Julie's point. It's not that we have to be scholars, artists, scientists, and what not but more of the principal that being in an institution of higher learning, most of us have a similar drive to learn of our world. Granted some are here for the degree which in most cases will lead to financial security in life but there are others who go to college because they're actually interested in the process of learning. Just because our world has become increasingly more and more speciallized over time doesn't mean that we cannot follow in the "Renaissance Man's" footsteps. We just have to reach out more and learn all we can like Bacig tells us to do.
