: I agree with Ryan's post when he said that it is near impossible to achieve the renaissance ideal in today's society. With all of the advances in knowledge, it would be impossible to even know where to begin. In renaissance times, the very bases of math and science were to be learned, but today there are so many divisions of knowledge in this area. It is hard to keep these straight, let alone excell in them. Today there is also a knowledge of technology that is required for many tasks, something which the people of the renaissance definately did not need to master. In the area of the arts, there are so many different types of music and dance known today, as well as styles of painting, sculpture, etc.It definately would be a feat to even attempt to be a renaissance individual in society today.
