I just wanted to say that I too am off that fence post. When Bacig described the Indians as a seperate nation it really hit home. Who are we to tell them what they can and can't do when years ago we made a pact and are now breaking it. Furthermore, most of the hunting and fishing that white men do is for sport, the food part is just an extra bonus. While the natives on the other hand, more than likely still hunt for food and also for tradition and spiritual reasons. I feel the most relevant message from this is that, you must understand history in order to understand the present.
