TEXTBOOK: An Introduction to Partial Differential Equations, by Y. Pinchover and J. Rubinstein

CONTENT:

  1. Chapter 1-7
  2. Chapter 8-9 selected sections
EXAMS: This semester, I will be out of country for three research conferences. Therefore, I will miss the classes during 9/10-14, 10/24-11/1, 11/9-21. We will make up for the missing classes by (i) giving all mid-term exams in evening, (ii) adding a few evening classes. Students who have schedule conflict with the evening exams time can choose different time.
  1. exam 1, 6-8pm 10/11 (20%)
  2. exam 2, 6-8pm 11/29 (20%)
  3. final exam, take home (20%)
HOMEWORK: due every other Wed. (40%)

GRADING SCALE:

  1. 90-100 A
  2. 80-89 B
  3. 70-79 C
  4. 60-69 D

REMARKS: (1)Tests must be taken at scheduled times. If a test is missed for a valid reason, then a make-up test can be arranged.
(2)Individuals who have any disability which might affect their ability to perform in the class are encouraged to inform the instructor at the start of the quarter. Adaptation of methods, materials or testing may be made to provide for equal participation.
