Graduate Programs Council

April 2, 2008

Present: Denny Falk, Tiffany Smith, Bob Lloyd, Helen Mongan-Rallis, Jackie Millslagle.

Hlth 5990, Special Topics: Goal Setting Strategies for Optimal Health, approved pending discussion with author about changes made last year for the same topic under a different prefix. [NOTE: changes from previous proposal were all incoporated in the version forwarded to VCAA.]

Jackie reported on investigation into tuition assessment for collegiate graduate students. Tuition banding was never requested or approved for departmental masters; we will pursue this another year. The College cannot waive non-resident tuition; however, we will continue to question why another department can waive non-resident tuition for student assistants in its programs.

In response to a question from Jackie about approval to participate in commencement, Denny explained that as DGS in a Graduate School program, he gets a list of students who have applied and must indicate if they are finishing and qualified to walk in commencement.

Remaining agenda items postponed to April 16 meeting.

Jackie Millslagle, Recorder
