Department Faculty

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry takes pride in its nationally and internationally known faculty members. The majority of our faculty hold tenured or tenure-track positions at the level of full professor, associate professor and assistant professor. In addition, the faculty includes some temporary, non tenure-track instructors who primarily teach the general chemistry courses and liberal education chemistry courses.

Four tenured faculty hold split appointments between the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and other programs within the University, namely the Large Lakes Observatory and the College of Pharmacy.

It is noteworthy that through the years some of our faculty members have served the UMD community in different administrative capacities (e.g., Dean of SCSE, Acting Associate Dean, Interim Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs).
