Chemistry and Biochemistry ResearchThe Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is part of UMD's Swenson College of Science and Engineering which encompasses a thriving community of researchers, scholars, and resources in the fields of science and engineering. Labs and FacilitiesFor descriptions of individual research labs, please follow the links from the list of graduate faculty and research. Chemistry and Biochemistry research and classes are conducted primarily in two buildings on the UMD campus. The Swenson Science Building and the Chemistry Building offer outstanding facilities for faculty and students. Other research facilities include the Large Lakes Observatory, the Natural Resources Research Institute, the Duluth School of Medicine and the College of Pharmacy . InstrumentsThe Department also has a number of essential instruments to aid in research and study. In addition, the Swenson College of Science and Engineering coordinates shared resources between departments and organizations outside the University. Additional specialized instruments are in the labs of individual research groups. Laboratory Safety PlanThis link is to the official Laboratory Safety Plan for the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. The Laboratory Safety Plan describes policies, procedures, equipment, personal protective equipment and work practices that are capable of protecting employees from potential health hazards in laboratories. |
