Policy: Donating Equipment to the ITSS Checkout Pool
A large, shared pool of instructional technology equipment is available at UMD through Information Technology Systems and Services' (ITSS) Audio Visual Checkout Service. Most of this equipment is owned by ITSS, but occasionally other departments have equipment they would like to share with the campus.
Before purchasing new equipment for the ITSS equipment pool, departments should discuss plans with ITSS AV staff to help ensure compatibility with current and future ITSS equipment and procedures.
ITSS will accept donated equipment into our pool and handle the administrative tasks of scheduling reservations, tracking equipment, and maintaining the equipment at no charge to the owner department if the following conditions can be met:
- The current ITSS Instructional Equipment Checkout Policy is acceptable to the owner department.
- The equipment is likely to be useful to more than one UMD department.
-
The equipment is in good working order,
- or can be put in good working order at minimal expense to ITSS,
- or repair costs are paid by the owner department.
- The equipment will remain in the pool for at least one year.
-
ITSS
will have the final decisions related to:
- accepting the equipment into the pool.
- scheduling equipment reservations.
- maintenance requirements and methods of repair.
- removing the equipment from the pool.
