about kirby leadership institute
The Kirby Leadership Institute at UMD offers leadership seminars and community learning partnerships designed to help students develop strategies and skills for success. Three new leadership courses in leadership theory are now offered through the College of Liberal Arts. The leadership process begins by strengthening the leadership skills of the individual. We offer opportunities for students to learn the basic, fundamental skills that support successful personal relationships, contribute to campus organization leadership, and participation as citizens in the community and beyond. We believe that each student at UMD has the capacity to effectively lead with integrity, and this capacity can be developed over time through disciplined practice and learning. A commitment to leadership development is a lifetime journey.
