- Quaternary stratigraphy and geochronolgy in terrestrial, lacustrine, and nearshore marine environments.
- Paleoclimatic and paleoenvironmental records from the sediments of large lakes and estuaries.
- Use of biogenic silica, radiocarbon dating, and high-resolution seismic-reflection stratigraphy in paleoenvironmental research.
