The concert will include piano and violin performances by Alexander Chernyshev, UMD teaching specialist, and his wife Olga. Betsy Husby and Denise Lindquist, teachers in the Suzuki Outreach Program, will perform classical arrangements on the cello and piano. Students in the Suzuki program will also perform. All proceeds from the concert go to benefit the Lake Superior Suzuki Talent Education Program (LS-STEP).
The Suzuki program is devoted to producing young musicians and provides instruction in the violin, viola, piano, harp, and cello. In addition to teaching children musical instruments, it also teaches self-discipline, music appreciation, and character development.
Tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for children. The concert is open to the public. Donations to the Lake Superior Suzuki Talent Education Program may be made by calling Anita Barr at (218) 525-2289.
