Diploma information for UMD

The University will mail diplomas approximately two months after a student has completed their degree requirements, unless they have a hold which prevents the diploma from going out.

Check for holds. Notify the Degree Clearance Office (contact information below) when a hold is cleared in order to receive the diploma.

A University of Minnesota diploma indicates a student's name (as submitted on the Application for Degree), the degree earned, and any honors earned. All diplomas are 8-1/2 x 11 inches. A University of Minnesota diploma does not indicate a student's major; majors are indicated on the transcript only.

Duplicate diplomas

Graduates of the University of Minnesota may order a copy of their diploma if they have lost or never received the original. Complete and forward a Duplicate Diploma Request form, along with $15, to the Office of the Registrar on the Twin Cities Campus. The duplicate diploma will be mailed three weeks after the submission of the order.
