Re-enrolling at UMD

Undergraduate students who have not attended the past two semesters (excluding summer session) are placed on "inactive" status and will need to request reactivation of their record by filing a Request for Re-enrollment form.

Students who wish career counseling may contact the Career Services Office, 22 Solon Campus Center. Call (218) 726-7985 to schedule an appointment.


To re-enroll in the same, previously attended, college (collegiate unit)

  1. Fill out a Request for Re-enrollment form and take it or mail it to the office of the appropriate collegiate unit listed below. The collegiate unit will notify you of their decision.
  2. View the class schedule for the term you are interested in.
  3. Follow the registration steps listed below.

To change colleges (collegiate unit)

  1. To change to a different UMD collegiate unit, fill out an Application for Undergraduate Change of College (UMD campus)] form and take it, or mail it, to the student affairs/advising office of the collegiate unit you wish to change to.You will receive a letter from the student affairs/advising office indicating your admission decision.

    To change into other Univerity of Minnesota campuses (i.e., Twin Cities, Morris, Crookston), use the Application for Undergraduate Change of College (other University of Minnesota campuses).

    If you are admitted to the new UMD collegiate unit, the Office of Financial Aid and Registrar will inform you that your record has been updated and give you a registration date and time.

  2. View the class schedule for the term you are interested in.

  3. Follow the registration steps listed below.

If you are not admitted to the new collegiate unit, you will not be allowed to register in that unit. You may want to explore re-enrolling in your previously attended collegiate unit (see above).

Registration steps

  1. Seek academic advisement from the student affairs/advising office in your college.
  2. Fill out the course registration worksheet (PDF format). Include second and third choices for classes.
  3. After the Office of Financial Aid and Registrar notifies you of your registration date and time, register online for classes at http://www.d.umn.edu/Register/. Click on "Add or Change Classes". You will be prompted to enter your Internet ID and password. If you do not know your Internet ID and/or password, or if you have any problems registering, please contact One Stop Student Services at (218) 726-8000 or go to 23 Solon Campus Center between the hours of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, for assistance.
  4. Attend the first session of all your classes to keep your place in that class.
  5. Registration policies and procedures can be found at http://www.d.umn.edu/courseinfo.
  6. Your "d.umn.edu" University e-mail account is the University's official means of communication with you. You will need to regularly check this account.
