Thomas Florestano

Professional title

Vice President of Academic Affairs

Thomas is a Junior majoring in Sociology and Criminology while minoring in Psychology, Hispanic Studies, and Film Studies. He hopes to attend Grad School for a degree in Biblical Counseling in response for the growing need for counseling services around the world. At UMD, Thomas is also a student leader in the Navigators, a campus ministry and is a member of Chill Factor, the vocal jazz ensemble.

Thomas was born and raised in Duluth and continues to stay despite his severe aversion to Duluth winters. He is the youngest of four brothers and a proud uncle. In his free time, Thomas loves doing photography (check it out on Instagram), especially of Lake Superior and enjoys going on road trips when he can.

Since joining Student Association, Thomas has found many ways to get involved and improve the campus. Besides Vice President of Academic Affairs, he has served as Systems Administrator, CLA Senator, and Representative-at-large. Some of the initiatives that he has been pursuing are improving first-year seminar and evaluations of professors.
