Agency Description:

The Duluth Institute is committed to improving and enhancing the psychological and sexual health/functioning of individuals, families and the community.  The mission of The Institute is to provide a complete range of psychological and mental health services.  A primary mission is to provide comprehensive assessment, evaluation and treatment for individuals (adults and adolescents) and families in order to promote mental health and healthy sexuality. The Institute has specialized in sexuality related issues such as sexual dysfunctions, sexual identity/orientation issues, relationship/sexual behavior issues, and forensic sexuality.  The Institute provides individual, family, and/or couples therapy to address any mental health concern of our clients.  Additionally, The Institute provides consultation and education to the community including schools, businesses and other organizations.  The Institute is committed to building our own knowledge through research and maintaining a knowledge base of current research topics and information.

Description of Field Activities

The primary experience available to an MSW student would be oriented toward a Field I experience in which they would provide individual, group, or family therapy, educational programming to clients and/or families, involvement in case management and treatment planning, participating in the evaluation/assessment process with clients through completing social history interviews, documentation etc.  In addition, a student would experience and gain from clinical supervision specific to case consultation and personal supervision regarding the therapy process.

Additionally, Field II opportunities could be available in regard to researching and developing grant opportunities and programming as needed, participating in or assisting with research regarding client issues and/or program concerns, program development (i.e., educational programming, significant other programs etc), program evaluation, monthly consultation with representatives from Department of Corrections, and participation in networking opportunities coordinating with other provider’s related to sexual violence prevention and intervention.

Approval for Field I, II, Either?? This has been approved for either Field I or Field II.
