Field I experiences include direct work with patients, residents, and clients of acute care, long-term care, home health care, hospice care, as well as their families. This would include interviews, assessments, care planning, discharge planning, group work, family conferences, crisis intervention, documentation, learning about the regulatory agencies involved with the organization, etc. For Field II, If the student hasn’t had a medical field I the placement would be the same as above but would also incorporate more administrative and clinical work. There is also a component of evaluation of the Social Work Department. There will be a selection of the project areas that the student can work on to learn the micro to macro levels of the department and areas in the organization and community where the social worker can play a critical role.
