The Cook Hospital is a 14 bed, acute care, Critical Access hospital with a fully staffed emergency room open 24 hours a day, seven days a week serving a 2500 square mile region of wilderness and recreational territory. The primary inpatient population is adult medical patients but pediatric patients can also be treated. The hospital also has swing bed patients who are typically short term, skilled care in the hospital setting but who no longer meet the criteria of staying in acute care in a hospital. The Cook Hospital also has a 28 bed Nursing Home that is attached to the hospital. The population we serve is primarily Caucasian but we are also very close to the Bois Forte Indian Reservation & serve a large population of American Indian.
