Agency Description:

Assertive Community Treatment is an array of services provided by community-based, mobile mental health treatment teams. The mission of the ACT Team is to promote, develop, and support high quality assertive community treatment services that help improve the lives of people diagnosed with serious and persistent mental illness. Assertive Community Treatment is a team treatment approach designed to provide comprehensive, community-based psychiatric treatment, rehabilitation, and support to persons with serious and persistent mental illness such as schizophrenia and who have not successfully received services from the traditional mental health system. The ACT primarily services individuals over the age of 24.   The Transitional-ACT, also located in Duluth, serves individuals ages 19-24. 

Description of Field Activities

The ACT field placement offers students an opportunity to integrate theories and demonstrate advanced practice skills, which address complex issues for people who experience serious and persistent mental illness. Please see the agency application by clicking on the link above for a list of potential duties.
