INTERNAL HIRING POLICY FOR TEMPORARY/CASUAL, TEMPORARY OFFICE SERVICE (TOS), AND STUDENTS
ELIGIBILITY TO APPLY FOR POSITIONS TITLED "FOR CURRENT UNIVERSITY EMPLOYEES ONLY"
1) For employees hired in "Supplemental - hourly positions" which have no designated percent appointment, work schedules are variable, intermittent, or on-call and they maybe terminated at anytime. Employees in this category must have worked for 3 months at least 35 percent time before applying for such positions.
2) For employees hired in Temporary Posted positions with a designated percent appointment of 36 percent time or greater and a set term, and must serve probation, will be eligible to apply after they pass probation.
3) Effective July 1, 2004, "Temporary Office Service" (TOS) employees will be eligible to apply for internal UMD postings after serving 67 work days OR a total of three months TOS assignment OR 268 hours of service from date of hire, whichever comes first.
4) Student employees will not be eligible to apply.
