Cooking Demo: Boochimgae Boochimgae, which translates as pancakes or fritatas, is a Korean cuisine and very popular on a rainy day. I don't know why, but in Korean culture, the taste of boochimgae is much better when it rains. There are lots of different version of boochimgae, and today, Jihyun will be introducing her favorite - Squid Boochimgae. Come and learn how to prepare it!

Facilitator: Jihyun Park is a South Korean mother and wife who is studying at the College of Pharmacy at UMD.

Fitness Class: Active Stretching This class will provide an introduction to stretching. Stretching is a huge enhancement to our physical bodies and should be incorporated in to our exercise routines. The benefits of this class will leave participants with the knowledge on how to perform individual exercises to reach better overall flexibility.

Facilitator:  Heather Roberts is a personal trainer and group fitness instructor. She will be graduating this year from UMD with a marketing degree and an emphasis in corporate fitness.

throughout the day really does add up! So ditch those excuses and come find out how to
get started! You'll also receive tips on how to incorporate physical activity at work,
home and even when you're traveling.

Fitness Class: Upper Body Basics This class is a combination of incorporating strength, light cardio, and stretching to receive the full body benefits of exercise. Participants will use their own body weight to perform exercise that will challenge their fitness level and learn that exercise does not have to be done only with fancy equipment. The class will show beginning, intermediate and advanced forms of the moves so all levels can learn and participate. This is a great overall strength class.

Losing Battle Challenge Info Session As part of the UMD Employee Wellness Program initiative, "The Losing Battle" Challenge is being offered again. Participation is FREE for UMD faculty and staff. Come to this session to learn about the challenge. The term "losing" in this phrase is used as one's effort to lose those extra pounds or inches with a goal of winning the "battle" to lose them.

"The Losing Battle" Challenge is a 10-week challenge to get motivated in losing weight and staying healthy! Participants are comprised of team of two.

Lita Wallace is Wellness and Training Coordinator with UMD Department of Human Resources. Katie Gruber is a senior at UMD, pursuing a degree in Health Education with emphasis  in Community Health; and student intern with Health Coaching.

Weight Loss Drugs and Supplements Participants will learn about the effectiveness and safety of medications and supplements used for weight loss, so they can make informed decisions about their use.

Facilitator: Jamie Ziebarth completed her undergraduate degrees in biology and chemistry in Valley City, North Dakota before beginning Pharmacy school here in Duluth in 2007. She is in her final year of training before graduating with her Doctor of Pharmacy degree next May, and is on rotation with Keri Naglosky, Pharm.D. (Director of the UMD MTM Clinic) until mid-November.

Green Your Office Small changes yield big results, especially at a workplace as big as UMD. But being a leader in making sustainable changes in your office can be challenging at times. This session will give an introduction to sustainability principals and cover essential best practices for greening your workday. Topics covered will include: energy conservation, reducing paper use, recycling, hosting green events and much more.

Facilitator: Mindy Granley is UMD's Campus Sustainability Coordinator. Her role is to communicate, collaborate, and assess sustainability efforts campus-wide, including operations, administration, and academics; raising awareness of programs, options, and ideas to help create a more sustainable campus; and tracks UMD's Greenhouse Gas emissions and works to find ways to reduce them.

Cooking Demo: Gyros Gyros or gyro is a Greek dish, consisting of meat, tomato, onion, and tzatziki sauce, and is served with pita bread. Gyros may also refer to the sandwich, which consists of the same ingredients. Join us as Peter shows as how to prepare an authentic Gyros.
