to have the employment experts from the U's Office of International
Student and Scholar Services on campus making two presentations.
Mark Schneider, the Assistant Director for Employment-based Visas,
will be bringing his team including H-1 Case Managers, Debbie
Maatala and Ji-Yeung Jang and Permanent Residence Assistant, Krupa
Shah. |

10 a.m.to noon - - H-1B
The H-1B session will include a Powerpoint presentation with
an overview of the purpose and nature of the H-1B visa, as well
as alternative work visas (J-1. F-1 OPT, TN, O-1). We will then
go into more specifics on H-1B parameters and requirements, including
wage regulations, educational credentials, timelines and fees.
We will point out employment terms that H-1B employers must abide
by. Finally, we will lead participants through the ISSS H-1B website
and how to navigate the new online INSZoom application software.

1:30- 3:30 p.m. - - Permanent Residence
The U.S. Permanent Residence (PR) workshop will include information
and resources on:
- which employees are eligible for PR applications and which
are processed by ISSS
(tenure-track faculty) or by private attorneys
- tenure-track faculty search/hiring guidelines related to non-citizens
- the types of PR applications that ISSS handles: "Labor
Certification" and
"Outstanding Professor/Researcher"
- outlines of the steps, timelines and fees involved in PR applications
- the US agencies involved
- "Green Card" priority dates and backlogs
- working with PR applications for non-tenure-track employees
through outside attorneys
