Outstanding Service Award
Project Award
2003-2004
Douglas McKercher
Doug's project supports the mission of UMD Facilities Management by providing
comfortable temperatures and good air circulation during the times that rooms
are used for academic, research, or service; while saving the University energy
dollars and conserving environmental resources.
Doug took the initiative to collect information on the usage of rooms on campus
and determined when it would be economically feasible to turn down the heat
and fans during the times they were not in use. His project saved almost 25%
of our energy dollars, translating into an average of $35,000 each month on
natural gas and electrical costs.
Doug is truly deserving of this Project Award. Please accept this award, Doug,
with our thanks and appreciation.
