The ITSS Classroom Technology Team has just completed a campus-wide effort
to standardize technology equipment in every general purpose classroom with
a capacity of 20 or more. Equipment includes a teaching podium with power and
network connections, DVD and VCR players, closed-caption decoder and laptop
connection along with a ceiling mounted projector. Members of the team give
individual training for new users of equipment prior to them going into the
classroom. Besides team members, a cadre of student consultants, hired and supervised
by the team, are available to assist faculty.
Every piece of equipment in every room is backed up by detailed, pictorial
user documentation which is placed in the room and on the web. Twenty eight
rooms were newly equipped with the above technology in 2003 alone, and at least
six other rooms had upgraded equipment installed within the same time frame.
There is now a total of 66 classroom equipped and supported by ITSS.
