Outstanding Service Award
Linda Marnich serves as the receptionist for the Robert F. Pierce Speech Language
Hearing Clinic which serves the Duluth Public Schools audiologists and the Northeast
Service Cooperative. Linda manages clinical operations and arranges a multitude
of details for the benefit of students, staff and clients. The clinic flooded
the night before spring semester was to begin. Linda took it upon herself to
notify not just the staff, faculty and students but all the clients (over 60
people) scheduled for the semester. She let them know of the situation and that
we needed to cancel clinic for the first week. The day after the flood, she
quickly scrambled to look for other places in the university to use for scheduled
therapy, since we learned the clinic wouldn't be usable for 5-6 weeks. This
amount of re-arranging and coordinating of times between families, faculty,
staff, and students was no easy task, but she did it and she did it well! The
RFP clinic was up and running in different locations throughout the University
one week later. Certainly these events have demonstrated the fact that her work
is truly "above and beyond!"
Linda’s performance has been exceptional since the first day she was
employed within the department. Linda is definitely the “keeper of the
castle” and our “knight in shining armor,” she is always there
for faculty, students and clients. She organizes ALL equipment, supplies, materials
and schedules. She does everything cheerfully and enjoys new challenges. She
is ALWAYS friendly to clients, family members, students and staff. She makes
coming to work a pleasurable experience for everyone around her.
It is a pleasure to present Linda with this award for her hard work and dedication.
