2007-2008 OUTSTANDING SERVICE AWARDS
Continuous Service Award
Keith Johnson
Heated buildings is a given for most of us. But what we take for granted
requires the diligence of skilled Facilities Management Department, Heating
Plant employees. A coworker said of Keith Johnson, "Many employees
may not know him or even see him at work, unless they spend a lot of time
in crawl spaces or mechanical rooms, but if the steam is flowing and the
buildings are warm, you know Keith is hard at work."
Since coming to UMD in 2003, Keith has become known for his diligent
attention to details: checking and rechecking areas of concern, keeping
others informed of outstanding issues, and searching for potential problems
before they become failures. His eye for locating and troubleshooting
boiler problems, is well known in his department, as is his willingness
to share his knowledge and expertise.
Keith is also known for his eye for safety. He serves as a voluntary
member of the Safety Committee. He has revised our safety lock-out procedures
for the main plant boilers and also volunteered to assist contractors
working on campus with lock-outs for their projects.
For all his diligence and dedication to the campus and to keeping
us warm we are very pleased to present this Outstanding Service
Award to Keith.
