We Need More than Thoughts and Prayers: Toxic Masculinity and Gun Violence
Melissa Frank (they/them) is a graduate student in the English, Linguistics, and Writing Studies program at UMD; their focus is on feminist theory and popular culture. Melissa is also the parent of a murdered child who researches and speaks statewide about the disconnection in current culture between toxic behaviors of gender performance and gun violence.

AAUW Start Smart
Start Smart is a workshop led by the American Association University of Women (AAUW) and is specifically designed to teach you how to negotiate salaries for a new job. In this workshop you will gain confidence in your negotiation style through facilitated discussion and role-play and learn how to identify and articulate your personal value, how to develop an arsenal of persuasive responses and other strategies to use when negotiation, learn how to conduct objective market research to benchmark a target salary and benefits and finally you will get to acquire knowledge on the existing pay gap, including its long term consequences on their careers.
