Final Paper: A Critical Review

The course requires each student to see four plays during the semester. Two plays will be required of everyone in the class, two plays will be the personal choices of each student. At the end of the course, an essay analyzing a single aspect of the theatre in reference to the plays seen during the semester will be required of each student.

The two required productions are:

**There will be an after show Question & Answer Session with the director, cast and crew which all students in Intro to Theatre are required to attend.

Play dates and ticket information for other plays produced in the Twin Ports area can be viewed by going to the course syllabus web site at: <http://www.d.umn.edu/~mharvey/th1001syllabusweb.html>

After seeing a production, be sure to keep all reference materials, such as programs and local reviews, in order to enhance the paper required at the end of the course. Programs or ticket stubs will not be required attachments to the final paper.

Requirement of the final paper:

• Four typewritten pages
• Discuss four plays
• Include four cited sources (any combination of primary or secondary sources is permissable).
• Follow standard Modern Language Association writing format

Deadlines for the Paper

1. Choose a topic and submit it to your group via WebX. November 22
2. Submit a thesis statement and submit it to your group via WebX. November 29
3. Write a first draft and submit it to your group via WebX. December 6

4. Hand in a hard final copy to the instructor.

December 13

The first three steps will be awarded points based solely on meeting the appropriate deadlines. Students will not be allowed to proceed to the next step until the prior step is completed.
