Professor Holtz’s Email Policies
Purpose
Your electronic mail (email) communication represents your professional character. As such, your email communications during this course are required to follow these guidelines:
Subject
The course designator, course number, and lab section number (value is greater than 1). For example:
Replace the course number (1521) with your course number and the section number (3) with your lab section number.
- If you are not a student, then the subject should be appropriate to the content of the body of the email.
Greeting
Appropriate examples include: “Hello” or “Good day” followed by “Professor Holtz” or “Mr. Holtz”.
Content
Respectful, concise, professional communication:
- Use NO emoticons
- Use proper grammar, including:
- Complete sentences
- Proper capitalization
- Proper punctuation
- Correct spelling
- Use as few words and be as clear as possible
- Content must concern course
If you have a question about an assignment, it should be specific. Asking, “I’m lost. What am I supposed to do?” is not acceptable.
