Your next steps
Are you ready?
Complete these important steps before arriving on campus.
Confirm your enrollment. Confirming your enrollment is the next step in becoming a UMD Bulldog. After you pay the non-refundable confirmation fee, you can select your Orientation date.
At Orientation, you’ll learn about important campus resources available to you, meet other incoming students, receive personalized academic advising, register for classes, and get your U Card.
Make sure you have the following items at hand to confirm your intent to enroll:
- Student ID Number: this is found in your admission letter from UMD.
- Credit Card: using a credit card is the easiest way to pay the non-refundable confirmation fee.
- Summer Schedule: Orientation takes place on the UMD campus, so it’s best to know your family’s availability before selecting a session
Complete your FAFSA and have the information sent to UMD (Federal School Code: 002388). Starting in February, the Office of Financial Aid will begin mailing estimated award notifications to admitted students.
We understand that incoming students and their families will have questions regarding their financial aid. A helpful resource page is available to assist you. If you can't find what you're looking for there, our staff at One Stop Student Services would be delighted to assist you. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 218-726-8000.
Admitted Student Day will give you additional perspective into what it's like to be a Bulldog.
You can apply for housing beginning February 1. We start sending information about on-campus housing in mid-January. Make sure you complete your housing application by June 1 (deadline extended for Fall 2020). We can't guarantee space after this date.
When you join the Official Class of 2024 Facebook page, you will be able to connect with incoming students and get assistance from student leaders on campus. Only students who've been admitted to UMD for Fall 2024 will be accepted to the class of 2024 page. (If your Facebook name does not match the name on your application, you will not be eligible to enter.) Often duplicated, the official Facebook page is less on spam and more on the meat & potatoes you care about.
Send your final high school transcript, with the date of graduation to the Office of Admissions by July 1st.
Submit official transcripts for any college courses and/or AP/IB examinations you've taken. This way we can give you credit for work you've done through PSEO, CIS, AP, or IB.
To help new freshmen get ready for their first semester in Duluth, UMD requires the completion of three online educational modules. The modules cover a number of important topics, and they help UMD meet a Minnesota state law for incoming college students. Be sure to watch for an email with instructions in late July!
This is your week to explore, discover, and get connected the week before classes begin. Bulldog Welcome Week is required for all new students and is filled with many first-year traditions.
