Unseated family members who had been milling about scrambled for the remaining seats. Once everyone was seated, the room grew almost unnaturally quiet, but still radiating a sort of unseen energy. Sam gently took her right hand in his and the aunt on her left took her other hand. The action repeated in waves around the table as the family all joined hands.
