The chopping aunt noticed the accident and had rushed over with some paper towels and a bottle of tonic water. She busily dabbed at the stain and tried to comfort Maggie at the same time.

"Really, dear. Our fault anyway. Giving you that huge bottle. Even Uncle Joe couldn't pour that monster of a bottle."

Maggie held up the dishcloth, now stained a deep scarlet, her eyes pooling again as she examined it.

"Oh, this old thing. These rags were meant for using. That's how it is here. Things are meant for using, not for looking at."
