This is a mockumentary DVD project. In class we will investigate film bonus disk materials, (mini-documentaries where film cast, crew and design teams discuss their process.)
3D Digital Students will create 3D models based on the archaeological ruins at the Eleusis site or 3D models of artifacts (like pottery or statuary) from Eleusis
2D Digital Students will create 2D roughs and sketches based on the ancient costumes, characters or artifacts from the Eleusis site... or storyboards and rough animations of portions of the greek myth.
Theater/ Film Acting Students
will be invited to play roles in the mini-mockumentary films to be included on the DVD bonus disk project. Additional roles will be played by volunteers and actors from the local community.
Student work may be included in bonus features in our Mockumentary DVD if the student has signed a release form to the project.
COLOR + GREEK ART Many Greek ruins and artifacts are now white, but most were painted with bright colors in their day.
Decoration - The sculpted figures, often didactic, were placed on the secondary architectural features: the tympanum (pediment) and the metopes (architrave). The temples were painted: the background was generally red with the prominent features in blue to form a contrast. These brilliant colors made the stone or white marble sculptures stand out. A gilded bronze color was used to pick out certain decorative motifs such as shields or acroteria.
